RECORDER REPORT

ISLAMABAD: Former Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has written an appreciation letter to the secretary interior and staff of the ministry to acknowledge hard work, diligence and commitment to duty of entire team of Interior Ministry including the heads and staff of attached departments, during his tenure.

“I also wish to acknowledge the services of former interior secretaries who have worked with me during this period for their cooperation and commitment to bring qualitative change in the working environment of the ministry and its attached departments,” he said.

Nisar further said that during his political career spanning over three decades, he had the opportunity to head various ministries, but his present tenure was the most challenging period of his entire political career in terms of huge and multifaceted challenges faced by the country.

“We, as a country faced issues connected to our national security including the fight against militants to ensure internal security and maintenance of the law and order, through various administrative measures and internal reforms within our organizations, formulating new policies aimed at restoring sanctity of our laws and introducing transparency and the rule of law, we had multidimensional tasks before us”, he said.

“Whatever, we have been able to accomplish during this period is a matter of record. I give this credit to entire team of the ministry and its attached departments who have worked with me diligently and provided me the support in translating our vision into reality,” he added.

He acknowledged that at times his expectations from the ministry and its attached departments exceeded the institutional capacities. “We must not forget that the people of Pakistan look towards the politicians and bureaucrats for resolving their issues,” he said.

“We cannot afford to be oblivious of their [masses] issues and problems. I am confident that each and every officer has realisation of his responsibilities and what we owe to our people and our country,” he said.

He expressed hope that the momentum he generated during his tenure would be carried forward, and wished further improvement to come up to the expectations of the people.

It is also relevant to add here that former interior minister during his last press briefing said that he would resign from the membership of National Assembly, let alone stepping down as interior minister after the announcement of Panama Papers case verdict by the Supreme Court. Hence, this letter may give birth to speculations on whether or not he would return as cabinet member during the remaining period of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government.
