PESHAWAR: Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) provincial chairman Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao in principle supported the decision of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for need of a new social contract and termed it a goodwill gesture from center to the masses and added that it will provide social and democratic freedom.

He said it will ensure the rights and economic opportunity to the oppressed people of this country and reiterated that this was the longstanding demands of QWP since long.

He stated this while addressing a public meeting at Tilaband at Peshawar, wherein scores of people hailing from different political parties along with their family members and supporters announced to join Qaumi Watan Party.

He said that we really appreciated the cooperation of the largest political party’s leadership Nawaz Shareef for his concern from the largest province, that he has support and accepts the longstanding demand and political vision of Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao, as he protested and requested on every forum of the house to respond to the issue.

He said that QWP believed in democratic and peaceful struggle to achieve the rights of the people through constitutional and democratic way. Sherpao stated that the federal government should realize the importance of maintaining a strong federation by ensuring provision rights to the smaller federating units and added that center should be given complete control over their natural resources. He said that Pakhtoons rendered matchless sacrifices for creation and stability of this country, but their sacrifices had been ignored and they were deprived from its rights and resources in the country despite passing 70 years.
