KARACHI: The Sindh Tajir Ittehad on Friday staged a protest demonstration to denounce Myanmar over repression of Rohingya Muslims and also slammed the UN for its continued silence on mass-execution of the minority in the Southeast Asian country.

Speaking at the traders’ protest outside New Memon Masjid, chairman of STI, Jamil Paracha lashed out at the UN and other rights organizations for their silence on the crimes against humanity in Myanmar where downtrodden Muslims suffered from persecution and genocide.

He said that “whenever there is genocide against Muslims in the world, the UN and other human rights organizations remain silent.”

He warned the government of a commercial strike across Sindh on next Friday if it failed to register a protest with the UN and Myanmar government on the said humanitarian issue.
