RECORDER REPORT

LAHORE: The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) on Monday wasted 1,396 liters of substandard milk after checking around 200 milk carrying vehicles at the entry & exit points of Lahore. Milk carried by 177 vehicles was found satisfactory while 21 vehicles were carrying substandard milk.

The Authority put up checking points at Saggian Bridge, Gajjumatta, Ravi Bridge, Bhobattian Chowk and Thokar Niaz Baig. The milk sellers had tried to increase the milk quantity by adding chemical and water which was wasted on the spot.

The Authority teams made surprise raids on various food points in all the districts of the province, sealed many of them and issued notices to others.

DG PFA said field teams also checked canteens of various educational institutions and wasted the substandard items and rancid cooking oil. He expressed satisfaction that canteens were following the ban on carbonated drinks.
