ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s textile exports inched up by 8.55 percent during August 2017 to $1.1724 billion from $1.080 billion for the same month of last fiscal year, according to Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).

Official data of the exports of selected commodities during August 2017 over the same month a year before shows that export of raw cotton increased by 11.40 percent in August 2017 to US $ 7.711 million from US $6.922 million for the same month of last fiscal year while exports of cotton yarn decreased by 13.03 percent to US $101.388 million in August 2017 from US $116.574 million in August 2016.

Exports of cotton cloth decreased by 7.97 percent to US $189.074 million during the August 2017 from US $205.440 million in August 2016, while exports of cotton carded or combed decreased by 100 percent in the month of August 2017 from US $174,000 in August 2016.

Exports of yarn other than cotton yarn showed a growth of 16.35 percent to US $3.865 million in August 2017 from US $3.322 million for August 2016, exports of knitwear increased by 21.05 percent to US $245.509 from US $202.810 million while exports of bed wear increased by 14.94 percent to US $213.878 million during the month of August 20107 from US $186.079 during August 2016.

Exports of towels increased by 11.73 percent to US $65.494 during the month of August 2017 from US $58.616 for the same month a year before, however, exports of tents, canvas and tarpaulin decreased by 40.43 percent to US $5.897 during the month of August 2017 from US $9.900 million during August 2016.

Exports of readymade garments increased by 11.07 percent to US $206.110 million during August 2017 from US $185.564 million during August 2016, art, silk & synthetic textile exports increased by 95.23 percent to US $26.940 million during August 2017  from US $13.799 million in August 2016, made-up articles, (excl. towels & bed wear) exports increased by 9.46 percent to US $61.448 million in August 2017 from US $56.139 million in August 2016, other textile materials exports increased by 29.91 percent to US $45,163 million in August 2017 from US $34.765 in August 2016.
