LAHORE: Federal Minister Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique claimed here on Friday that passenger trains will run 160 kilometers per hour and goods train at a speed of 120 kilometers after up-gradation of ML-1 under the CPEC.

He was speaking at a meeting convened on Friday at the Railways Headquarters to review progress on CPEC projects. He said the present government wanted to introduce new high speed trains having speed from 300 to 500 kilometers per hour but not by taking loans. He said presently Pakistani nation do not need such trains which have fares higher than the airplanes.

Saad Rafique said that project of ML-1 was prepared in line with the domestic needs. He said want their Chinese friends to upgrade infrastructure in CPEC project on lowest interest rate.
