Activities of Karachi Port and Port Qasim
RECORDER REPORT
KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 288,191 tonnes of cargo comprising 218,283 tonnes of import cargo and 69,908 tonnes of export cargo including 4,384 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday.
The total import cargo of 218,283 tonnes comprised of 83,788 tonnes of containerised cargo; 7,792 tonnes of general cargo; 32,132 tonnes of bulk cargo: 8,595 tonnes of seeds; 9,046 tonnes of fertilizer; 12,450 tonnes of rock phosphate; 2,041 tonnes of palm kernel expeller and 94,571 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 69,908 tonnes comprised of 48,013 tonnes of containerised cargo; 30 tonnes of general cargo; 12,875 tonnes of urea and 8,990 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 4,384 containers comprising of 2,208 containers import and 2,176 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 998 of 20’s and 592 of 40’s loaded while 02 of 20’s and 12 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 539 of 20’s and 214 of 40’s loaded containers while 371 of 20’s and 419 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were fourteen ships namely APL Norway, Busan Trader, Prosper, Fowairet, APL Kobe, STI Expedite, Chemroad Journey, CT Frontier, Mino, Med Nordic, Cyclades, Esperance Bay, Positive Brave and Cerulean carrying containers, oil tankers, chemical, steel, DAP, vehicle and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were fourteen vessels viz. Busan Trader, Prosper, Cosco Durban, Hyundai Brave, Med Nordic, Maersk Tacoma, Oriental Protea, Minerva Indiana, Baltic Cove, Pan Rapido, Positive Brave, M Gas, Mino and Heilan Aroma carrying containers, oil tankers, coal, steel, vehicle, repair and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
There were two ships namely Alexandria Bridge and New Ark carrying containers respectively sailed out to sea on Monday, while another ship namely Maersk Tacoma carrying oil tanker is expected to sail on Tuesday.
There were six vessels CMA CGM Puget, CMA CGM Narmada, Al Rawdah, Wide India, Sima Genesis and Nord Larkspur carrying containers and mogas respectively due to arrive on Monday while two vessels viz. YM Orchid and Seastar Empress carrying containers and DAP respectively are due to arrive on Tuesday.
PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 126,029 tonnes comprising 125,953 tonnes of import cargo and 76 tonnes of export cargo including 704 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The total import cargo of 125,953 tonnes includes 49,077 tonnes of furnace oil; 40,000 tonnes of LNG; 6,000 tonnes of soyabean; 15,000 tonnes of coal; 2,576 tonnes of LPG and 13,300 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 76 tonnes includes 76 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 704 containers comprising of 700 containers import and 04 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
There was one ship namely MV Achilleas-S carrying coal sailed out to sea on Monday morning, while two more ships namely MV Three Saskias and MT Paviot Spirit carrying soyabean seeds and furnace oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of eight vessels viz. CV Safmarine Nayassa, MV Achilleas-S, MV Ilfa, MV Three Saskias, MT Epic Sardinia, MT Gaslog, MT Gas Esco and MT Paviot Spirit currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, soyabean seeds, LNG, LPG and furnace oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as seventeen ships namely CV MSC Mars, CV MSC Bilbao, MV W Pacific, MV Necosia Pegasus, MV GSW Fighter, MV Sinar Kulal, MV Dracon Ocean, MV Yasailhan, MT Sea Speed, MT Black Pearl, MT Totonno Bottiglieri, MT Brizo, MT Lahore, MT Maistros, MT Mezaira, MT Margarita and MT Bahra carrying containers, soyabean seeds, rapeseeds, coal, chemical, LPG, furnace oil and diesel oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were three vessels viz. CV MSC Bilbao, CV MSC Mars and MT Maistros carrying containers and diesel oil expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Monday.
There were four ships namely CV MSC Mars, CV CMA CGM Narmada, CV MSC Bilbao, and MT Gaslog Greece carrying containers and LNG respectively due to arrive on Monday.
There are three ships namely CV New Ark, CV Algeciras and CV Maersk Denver carrying containers respectively due to arrive on Tuesday.
