LAHORE: In a meeting chaired by the Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, the proposal of extending mutual cooperation between the Punjab government and UK’s DFID and Public Health was discussed for strengthening the ongoing reforms program of health sector.

The British delegation was led by Chief of Basic Services Group of the DFID, Dr Ruth Lawson.

Addressing the meeting, Shehbaz said that a comprehensive program has been started to provide quality healthcare facilities to the people. In this regard, special attention is being given to enhance and improve the capacity of the health sector institutions.

He said that Punjab Public Health Agency has been established and its role is important for providing prior information about the spread of different diseases along with devising of a comprehensive system for their treatment and eradication.
