RECORDER REPORT

LAHORE: The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) on Wednesday organised a one-day training workshop titled ‘Business and Finance Reporting for Journalists’ in order to enhance their capacity building.

Journalists from prominent newspapers participated in the workshop where ACCA provided specialized training for accurate financial reporting.

Arif Masud Mirza, Regional Chief of Policy-Men ASA, said accountancy is a profession that works to the highest standards and improves the society where it’s present. “We invest in development programmes to keep our stakeholders on top of their game. This workshop is our way of delivering value to the society. We always strive to demonstrate through leadership in education, training and ethics,” he added.

The regional chief said the finance and business journalists are expected to have a strong ethical approach towards their role in this regard. It is important that they are well-equipped in analyzing current economic trends as well as interpreting financial statements so that they can see the wider picture and assume their ‘watchdog’ role in relation to the economy and corporate health.

Senior journalist Salim Bukhari was the chief guest on the occasion who advised the ACCA representatives to further arrange such workshops by taking on board top leadership of media houses.
