ISLAMABAD: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has reopened corruption cases against former Chief Minister Balochistan Aslam Raisani, former federal minister Arbab Alamgir and his wife Asma Arbab Alamgir.

An official said that the Bureau had received an anonymous complaint against Raisani in December 2012 for possessing Rs 100 million assets disproportionate to his declared sources of income.

The official said that former federal minister and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Alamgir Khan and his wife Asma have been accused of corruption and the NAB has also opened corruption cases against them.

According to a statement issued by the NAB, Chairman NAB former Justice Javed Iqbal said that the investigations against Alamgir and his wife will be completed soon. He said that the two have been accused of owning assets disproportionate to their declared sources of income as well as embezzlement in allotment of land in Gwadar.

It merits mentioning here that Arbab was the federal minister for communications in the PPP government. His wife, Asma, was also a member of National Assembly and adviser to the prime minister on states and frontier regions.

The chairman also said that investigation regarding Raisani will also be completed soon. All investigations will be taken to their logical conclusion on the basis of law and solid evidence, he added.
