LAHORE: Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) and Punjab Commission on the Status of Women (PCSW) decide to unite their resources and expertise for increasing awareness of women’s rights and for the promotion of women’s empowerment through research.

Both organizations inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in this regard. Vice Chancellor LCWU Prof Dr Uzma Qureshi and Chairperson PCSW Fauzia Viqar signed the MoU which intends to work together, coordinate efforts and resources for promoting education, research and training.

Senior members and staff from both sides attended the event in Syndicate Hall of the varsity.

It was decided that under this partnership PCSW and LCWU will organize six seminars in LCWU premises per academic year.

PCSW shall provide support to LCWU for the development of course content on women’s empowerment and provide resource persons for extension lectures for students of Women Institute of Leadership and Learning (WILL) at LCWU.

The institute will conduct research on topics suggested by PCSW. LCWU students from the Media Studies department will promote PCSW events.

Chairperson PCSW Fauzia Viqar said this MoU will be helpful to collaborate on various skill and development programs to strengthen the human resource needs of the state.

Other purposes are to work together on joint research and development programmes as mutually agreed and engage various stakeholders for women empowerment, she added.
