PESHAWAR: Customs authorities have seized smuggled cloths and satellite digital receivers worth Rs.100 million during operation in Chughalpura area on main G T Road, Peshawar city.

Customs authorities have received a tip that millions of meters of cloth and digital receivers were going to be smuggled to Punjab on which a team comprising Superintendent Syed Nasir Bukhari, Inspector Abdul Waheed and others conducted a raid.

The team during checking of vehicles at Chughalpura signalled a trailer carrying Registration No.C-1255, which instead of stopping, escaped from the spot while customs authorities after chasing the vehicle forced the trailer to stop at Sardar Ghari.

However, the driver made his escape good.

During the search of the vehicle, customs authorities seized 189,000 yard smuggled cloth and 1,680 digital receivers whose price in the local market was stated to be over Rs 100 million.

The customs squad took the contraband as well as the trailer into possession and initiated further investigation into the case.
