RECORDER REPORT

LAHORE: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto said on Tuesday that the PPP would contest elections on the strength of its ideology and not electables.

He was talking to President Faisalabad Division Hassan Murtaza. Sarmad Hussain, son of former PPP stalwart from Faisalabad Fazal Hussain Rahi, also joined the PPP on the occasion. Bilawal said he was least bothered about the electables against the strength of party workers. “I will rely upon my workers to contest next election,” he added.

“I will prefer to be on the shoulders of party workers than pursuing the electables who keep on jumping from one party to another in search of opportunity.” He urged party workers not to disappoint over the departure of electables as the PPP relies upon its ideology, not electables. He said the PPP was vying for the politics of issues, constitution and democracy. “The PPP is struggling for a long battle instead of chasing the politics of power.” “Only those looking for power get involved in politics of electables,” he asserted.

He said the party was independent in taking decisions on its reorganization and everyone should follow the party line. “Anyone believing that he is above party line because of his constitutional stature is living in fools’ paradise.” He said no one would be allowed to dictate the party’s reorganization drive.
