LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday said that Pakistan cannot afford any confrontation because it is detrimental for the country and an obstacle in the way of development.

“Disunity and chaos damage the national unity and as a result, the country is left behind in the efforts aimed at the country’s progress and prosperity. It is the need of the hour that the whole nation should move further with the force of unity and all the people should collectively work to make Pakistan in accordance with the dreams of Quaid and Iqbal,” Shehbaz said.

Shehbaz maintained that the state of Pakistan is an honour and a symbol of prestige for all of us and we have to work collectively to make it prosperous and strong. “Pakistan is our proud identity and we all have to make this identity even stronger and this goal can be achieved through national unity as nations and human societies do not progress due to disunity and differences,” he said.

Shehbaz said that there is no other priority dear to me that the agenda of national development and prosperity. “The PML-N government has relentlessly worked for achieving the goal of national development and we have utilized all our energies for collective development and prosperity,” he said, adding: “Unique steps have been adopted for public welfare as well as to ensure speedy development in the province. Every step has been taken for bringing improvement in healthcare, education and other sectors and due to the completion of mega projects, people have been benefited different facilities in these sectors.”

He said that a comprehensive programme is being followed by the government to ensure speedy development and vowed to move further with full passion for national development. The steps taken for overcoming the energy crisis are the examples of their own and due to the efforts of the government, the time of culmination of the energy crisis has come and it is the time when the nation is going to forever get rid of the menace of load-shedding, he added.
