ISLAMABAD: London Mayor Sadiq Khan is to undertake a visit to Pakistan during the first week of December, 2017, well informed sources told Business Recorder.

On November 28, Khan unveiled the bust of Pakistan’s Founding Father Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah in a ceremony organized by Pakistan High Commission in London.

The sources said a delegation of businessmen will also accompany London’s Mayor and hold high level meetings with Pakistani officials and political leadership.

Pakistani government will organize special banquet for Sadiq Khan, who was supported in the Mayors’ elections against former brother-in-law of PTI Chairman Imran Khan.

Sadiq Khans’ grandparents migrated from Bombay Presidency, British India to Pakistan following the partition of India in 1947. His father Amanullah and mother Sehrun arrived in London from Pakistan in the second half of 1960. Khan was the fifth of eight children and the only boy. In the city, Amanullah worked as a bus driver and Sehrun as a seamstress.—MUSHTAQ GHUMMAN
