ISLAMABAD: Lashing out at Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb Monday said when the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government was installing power projects and working for the betterment of the country, he was attacking the Parliament.

Talking to mediapersons outside the accountability court here, Marriyum Aurangzeb said that the people of Pakistan will once again choose and vote for Nawaz Sharif in general elections 2018.

Marriyum said those who eliminated loadshedding and terrorism are appearing before the courts. “We are appearing before the courts because we want to show that it is important to follow the law and Constitution.”

She said that Khan staged many protests and had stated that Islamabad will be locked down but the PML-N government continued working, she remarked. “Now, the same person is making noise regarding other trivial issues while we are working day and night to fulfill our promises.”

She said that the PML-N government has generated a record level of electricity in the country, as the party had promised to get the country rid of darkness.

Separately, talking to mediapersons on another occasion, she said that blackout of TV channels during sit-in operation at Faizabad was depressing, adding that the government supports freedom of speech but some of the channels were violating Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) rules. She said, “We should respect democracy and it should prevail.”
