LAHORE: President Kisan Board Pakistan Ch Nisar Ahmed advocate called on Secretary General Jamaat-e-Islami Liaqat Baloch on Monday and apprised him of the problems faced by sugarcane growers.

He told the JI leader that the government had fixed procurement price of sugarcane at Rs 180 per maund but the sugar mills were not paying this price. He said the sugarcane growers all over the province held protests upon which the government machinery had become active. Liaqat assured the KBP president of all-out support for their demands. He said the government would not be allowed to exploit the growers. He said the KBP was the representative body of the growers and the JI would extend its full support to it for the solution of their problems.
