RECORDER REPORT

KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Education and Literacy, Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar, has said that the teachers’ training institutions may be outsourced to enhance teaching quality in Sindh.

Presiding over 11th meeting of the Board of Governors of Sindh Teacher Education Development Authority (STEDA), he expressed his resentment over less number of students at the teachers’ training institutions and asked the concerned officers to ensure increase in enrolment in these institutions.

It was decided in the meeting that financial assistance should be provided to the willing candidates for teacher training and number of guide teachers would be increased and they would be assigned to train teachers in cluster-hub schools.

Jam Mehtab asked the participants to adopt modern rules to hire market-based staff for the purpose.

“Government universities should send recommendations of their students for endowment fund scholarship and STEDA should be made more effective,” he urged and also assured that the issues of the teachers’ training institutions would be addressed soon.
