LAHORE: Progressive Group, in the Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry, congratulating Miftah Ismail on his appointment as advisor to the Prime Minister on Finance and Rana Muhammad Afzal as State Minister of Finance hoped that both would succeed in putting the country’s economy back on track, which was witnessing sluggishness.

Progressive Group’s President Khalid Usman and other office bearers including Arshad Chaudhry, Muhammad Ejaz Tanveer, Abdul Wadood Alvi in a statement on Thursday asked both the personalities to work for increasing revenue collection by expanding tax net instead of burdening the existing taxpayers.

They also stressed the need for taking the stakeholders on board while revamping the economic and financial policies.

The government should immediately abolish the new regulatory duty besides increasing the direct taxes ratio, they added.

The Group leaders said the government should provide enabling environment for business if it wants the overseas Pakistanis to bring their wealth into Pakistan.
