10th anniversary of Benazir’s martyrdom

Paying rich tributes to former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto on her 10th death anniversary, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) co-chairperson Asif Ali Zardari has said that Benazir had bravely confronted the forces of darkness and dictatorial regimes. According to him, “eventually she embraced martyrdom while fighting for rights of the masses.”

A large number of leaders and workers of PPP attended the public meeting at Garhi Khuda Bux to visit the last abode of first Muslim woman elected as Prime Minister to pay respects. There are no two opinions about the fact that Benazir Bhutto was a visionary leader; she had the ability to always see a bigger picture. Benazir Bhutto, the daughter of Pakistan’s first democratically-elected premier Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, entered in politics after the elected government of her father was removed in a military coup in July 1977.

No doubt, she was the queen of hearts of millions of Pakistanis. No doubt, she has left behind a rich legacy through her life-long struggle for the rights of downtrodden people of Pakistan.
