PESHAWAR: The provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has prohibited the use of tobacco products in all public places and transport.

The decision has been taken in light of “Prohibition of Smoking and Protection of Non-Smokers Health Ordinance, 2002.

Therefore it has been notified for all concerned that being Smoke Free public place, use of tobacco products has been prohibited within the premises of Directorate General Health Services and in the official vehicles as well as in health facilities and sub-offices.

Necessary action will be taken against the violators in accordance to the section 11 & 12 of above mentioned law “and any person who contravenes the provision of Section 5, 6 or 10 shall be punishable with fine which may extend to Rs1000/= and in a case of second or subsequent offence, shall be punishable with a fine which shall not be less than Rs1000/= and may extend to one hundred thousand rupees.
