NEW DELHI: A special child (Hasnain S/o Javed) has been repatriated through Attari/Wagah border on Monday. He was handed over to Pakistani authorities in the presence of officials of Pakistan High Commission.

Hasnain was detained in Observation Home, Faridkot. He inadvertently crossed the border in May 2017. Pakistan High Commission got consular access to him on 21 November, 2017, said a press release.

During the consular access, the child communicated in sign language that he is from Pakistan. He recognized Pakistani currency and picture of Quaid-e-Azam immediately. He drew Pakistani flag on his house. He was able to write a few words in Urdu. The Pakistan High Commission remained in constant contact with the relevant Indian and Pakistani authorities for the completion of all procedural and logistical requirements for the earliest repatriation of Hasnain and his reunion with the family.—PR
