PESHAWAR: Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has revived two closed technical training centres at Akora Khattak and Peshawar. The centres were closed some twenty years back.

This was told during a meeting of the KP TEVTA Board of Directors (BoD) held here at Chief Minister’s House with Chief Minister Pervez Khattak in the chair. Members of the Board of Directors of KP TEVTA and other relevant officers of the provincial government attended.

The meeting was informed about the operationalization of different training facilities, the extension of work of the KP TEVTA and the progress made so far under the Chief Minister’s directives for the enhanced training facilities throughout the province.

Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister appreciated the management of KP TEVTA for bringing the previously closed and dysfunctional training facilities to the final stage of operationalization.

The Chief Minister appreciated it and hoped that this would give a big boost in the skill enhancement of the youth of the area. He also appreciated the restarting of three training institutes at Batagram, Balakot and Khaki Mansehra adding that these institutes would train the locals of the three districts to get benefit of the industrialization in the backdrop of CPEC adding that the government would go with the focus approach to trap all opportunities for the skill enhancement of the youth.

The board during the course of discussion approved the establishment of vocational training centre for women in Shewa village of district Swabi. The centre was under utilized for years. Chief Minister hoped that the centre would be a big step for the women welfare in the district. The board also approved construction of building for the women vocational centres at Bannu and Swabi.

The board also approved a vocational training centre in Gujrat Bakhshali of district Mardan conditioned it to the donation of 30 to 40 kanal of land and transfer to KP TEVTA with the help of local representative. The board also appreciated the utilization of equipments afresh which were dumped down in the store for years. The board also approved appointment of 120 teaching and secretariat staff and two female administrators for the revitalization of women institutes and the board was also authorized for fresh appointments on approximately 1800 vacancies.

Chief Minister appreciated the project for rehabilitation of prisoners such as the vocational training centres in district Jail Haripur and Bannu and another two projects for training the prisoners were approved in district Jail Mardan and Peshawar. The meeting also approved to collaboration with Dudley College UK for accreditation of KP Technical Centres with Dudley College UK.

Pervez Khattak directed to focus on training of youth that should be market driven and further directed to realign the functions and direction of KP TEVTA for the future needs of the province.

He said that the aircrafts maintenance engineering, construction and earth moving machinery project would offer a wide range of training facilities to the youth. 500 young people would be given free training within the next two years that would open new vistas of jobs to the youth of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, he concluded.
