PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Energy Atif Khan Wednesday directed Energy and Power officials to timely complete 672 mini-micro hydel power projects initiate by the government across the province warning strict action in case of delay.

Presiding over a meeting of Energy and Power here, he directed the officials concerned to give six months time to small plants and nine months to big hydel power plants, adding that upon completion the projects would provide electricity supply to one million populations.

Referring to the provincial government’s contribution in power sector, he said two hydel power plants of 40.8MW, 10.8MW Jabori Power plant and 11.2 MW Karora, Shangla would be completed by 2018 and would add power to national grid. He further said that 84MW Mataltaan Power Project and 69 MW Laawi Hydel Power Project would also be completed soon. He directed early completion of work on 356 small hydel power project warning strict legal action in case of delay.

The Minister said that the government is working on solar power projects including solarization of 8000 schools, 5600 housing units 400 mosques and 187 BHUs across the province which would be completed within six months.

The meeting was attended by Secretary Energy and Power Engineer Naeem Khan, Chief Executive Office KPOGCL Raziud Din, Chief Planning Officer Zainullah Shah and others.
