ISLAMABAD: Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan finally broke the silence over his third marriage rumors with his spiritual guru Bushra Bibi, and accused PML-N head Nawaz Sharif and a media tycoon of being behind the “vicious” campaign.

In a series of tweets here on Tuesday, he said: “For the last three days, I have been wondering: have I looted a bank, laundered billions of national wealth, ordered a Model Town-like killing spree or revealed state secrets to India? I have done none of these but discovered I have committed a bigger crime: wanting to get married.”

He alleged that the “vicious, gutter media campaign” is being led by Nawaz Sharif and a media house, adding that it does not bother him.

Khan went on to say that he was only concerned about “my children and the very conservative family of Bushra Bibi.

Going after the former prime minister, he added: “I have known the Sharifs for 40 years and I know all their sordid personal lives, but I would never stoop to the level of exposing these sordid details.”

“All I ask of my well-wishers and supporters is that they pray I find personal happiness which, except for a few years, I have been deprived of,” he tweeted about his two failed marriages in the past.

According to a statement issued by the PTI spokesperson on January 7, Imran Khan sent a marriage proposal and Bushra Maneka sought time to consult her family, especially her children, before making any decision.

The statement insisted that the PTI chairman would announce it publicly if Maneka accepted the marriage proposal.
