SEHWAN: The National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) Karachi in collaboration with Government of Sindh established one more NICVD Centre to provide state-of-the-art cardiovascular services to the people of Sindh province at their doorstep in Sehwan Sharif now.

Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari inaugurated NICVD’s fourth Satellite Centre at Sayed Abdullah Shah Institute of Medical Sciences, Sehwan on January 12.

The inaugural ceremony was also attended by Chief Minister of Sindh, Syed Murad Ali Shah, Health Minister Sindh, Dr Sikandar Ali Mandhro, Health Secretary Sindh, Dr FazlullahPechuho, district administration and hospital management.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony, Executive Director, NICVD, Professor Nadeem Qamar said it gave him immense pleasure that NICVD, being one of the best cardiac hospitals of the country, had stepped into Sehwan now and was providing major cardiac facilities especially interventional cardiology in collaboration with the Government of Sindh to the people of Sindh at their doorstep for free. NICVD Centres at Larkana, Tando Muhammad Khan and Hyderabad have been doing wonders and saving lives. 751 heart patients at NICVD Larkana, 337 at NICVD Tando Muhammad Khan, 134 at NICVD Hyderabad and 22 at NICVD Sehwan were treated successfully since the inception of these centres in April 2017, October 2017, November 2017 and December 2017 respectively.”

Professor Nadeem Qamar further added that the centre was providing services including Cardiac Emergency, Interventional Cardiology especially Primary PCI, which was angioplasty during heart attack, Adult & Paediatric Cardiology, Critical Care, Echocardiography, and Consulting Clinics, to the population of Sehwan Sharif and its peripheries. “It is a matter of enormous pride that NICVD is opening four more such centres in Sukkur, Nawabshah, Khairpur and Mithi, which will be operational during this year.”

He thanked Sindh Government for their endless support and further appreciated the efforts of NICVD team for their endless efforts.

While addressing the ceremony, Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah said it is a matter of enormous pride and honour for NICVD to start fourth Satellite Centre in collaboration with the Government of Sindh at his native city, Sehwan Sharif. He further said that NICVD Centres established in 2017 in Larkana, Tando Muhammad Khan and Hyderabad, have been busy in providing world class cardiac facilities to the heart patients and this new major cardiac facility at Sehwan is another milestone to treat heart patients at their hometown.

He further committed to continue supporting NICVD for the cardiac care advancement and these types of projects.

While congratulating on achieving this milestone, Chief Guest Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto said it gave him a great pleasure to inaugurate NICVD’s fourth Satellite Centre in Sehwan Sharif to serve the people of Sindh province at their doorstep. He appreciated NICVD and the Government of Sindh for taking commendable steps in providing state-of the-art cardiac facilities for the people of Sindh Province.

He said that collaboration has done wonders in the city of Karachi by starting free of cost cardiac treatment and now they are here to initiate major cardiac facility for both adults and children and especially services of Interventional Cardiology and heart attack management, which will be of huge comfort for the natives of Sehwan and its peripheries.

He further added that in following months, more such centres with comprehensive heart care facilities would be functional in different cities of Sindh Province.—PR
