FAISALABAD: Under the 2nd phase of Cattle distribution programme for welfare of poor widow women from rural areas, 123 animals were distributed through balloting in tehsil Sadar and Chak Jhumra of the district.

In this connection, distribution ceremony was held at Guttwala Park. Deputy Commissioner Salman Ghani was chief guest on the occasion while MPA Azad Ali Tabasum, Vice Chairman District Council Khalid Pervaiz Virk, Director Livestock (Forms) D. Abdul Rehman, AC Chak Jhumra Afifa Najia, Addl. Director Livestock Dr Saleha Gull, Chairmen Union Councils, officers of Livestock department and widows of tehsil Sadar and Chak Jhumra were also present.

Addressing the ceremony, the deputy commissioner said that the programme of distributing animals among rural poor widow women has become successful to alleviate poverty and would pave the way for the promotion of the livestock sector.

He said that due to this scheme poor women of rural areas would now lead a better life. He congratulated the women those got animals and ask them to take special care of them because these animals are the source of income for them and their children as well.

MPA Azad Ali Tabassum and Vice Chairman District Council Khalid Pervaiz Virk on this occasion said that under the dynamic leadership of CM Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif present Punjab government was committed to providing all basic facilities to people in rural areas at their door steps and distribution of big animals among poor widows were also connected in this regard.
