KARACHI: State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) Governor Tariq Bajwa Friday said that not a single bank account of Imran Ali – the main accused of Zainab murder case, has been found.

The Governor SBP on the sidelines of Monetary Policy press conference informed that on the request of the government of Punjab, the State Bank inducted Shaukat Ali of SBP as member of Joint Interrogation Team (JIT).

On Thursday, a CNIC No: 35102-7459834-7 was provided by the JIT for details of bank accounts of Imran Ali. Accordingly, all the local and foreign banks were asked for details and subsequently all of them searched their databases and found no account of the accused against the said CNIC, he added. However, Bajwa said, only one mobile account has been found in the name of Imran Ali with a balance of Rs 130.

He said another CNIC was provided by JIT on Friday for bank account details and so far no account has been found against the second CINC as well. “As this is a very sensitive issue we are rechecking the details,” he added.

Meanwhile, according to a letter sent by SBP to the convener of JIT, the SBP has informed that the matter of searching the bank accounts (local and foreign currency) of accused Imran Ali s/o Arshad has been taken up with all commercial banks. However, all the commercial banks have informed that they have searched their databases and found no account of the accused against the said CNIC.
