ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday directed the federal government to appoint Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) chairman and member finance in a written order regarding the uploading of sacrilegious material on social media case.

Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui of IHC issued the three pages written order in case against the practice of uploading of blasphemous material on social media.

The bench said the PTA was facing problems due to the vacant of key posts. The attacks were being made against the values of Pakistani people and unfortunately the authorities concerned were not taking attention toward it. The court directed to form a committee under chair of secretary cabinet and comprising of secretary IT, secretary religious affairs and PTA head to introduce a mechanism to stop access to pornography and ban on films against Pakistani's values. —APP
