KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan seems to have divided into two factions after one of its senior leaders Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui announced that a meeting of the coordination committee (CC) had suspended Kamran Tissori as coordination committee's deputy convenor and member, a decision that was later turned down by Convenor Farooq Sattar, Aaj News reported.

Dr Farooq Sattar told media that some misled elements held a meeting without him that had no legitimacy. He said he would call a meeting of party workers on Tuesday to decide if they want a powerless convenor of their party or a powerful one. He said there was no controversy over Tissori.

However, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui told reporters their committee met and discussed six names for candidatures in Senate elections. He said that named of Nasreen Jalil, Farogh Naseem, Aminul Haq and Shabbir Qaimkhani were presented for candidacies. He said Amir Khan had refused to contest for Senatorship. He said the name of Tissori was among six people.
