ISLAMABAD: The chief of Jamaat-e-Islami Sirajul Haq has asked the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to stop horse trading and not to let those people contest election at any level who are either named in Panama Leaks, Dubai Leaks and London Leaks as well as or those who made huge bank balances through unknown sources.

Talking to the media here on Wednesday, he said all those who named in any sort of corruption should be barred from contesting election till they are cleared by the courts.

He further said the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has authority to hold fair, free and transparent elections at every level, but it is neither exercising those powers nor ensuring the compliance with its own moral code of conduct.

Sirajul Haq said the use of money in Senate elections is the most shameful act. He said the political parties should screen whom they are issuing tickets for the Senate.

He said the horse trading is going on openly and it amounts to insult of the Upper House. He said the Election Commission does not have any excuse of lacking powers to check corruption and horse trading but it does not have the courage to lay hands on the billionaire feudal lords and capitalists.

The JI chief said politics implies serving the humanity and is the work of the prophets of Allah. But, unfortunately in Pakistan, cheating, fraud and falsehood are being given the name of politics.

He said those swallowing public wealth under cover of politics are dacoits and thieves and not politicians and they must be wiped out from the national politics.
