KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 196,095 tonnes of cargo comprising 152,493 tonnes of import cargo and 43,602 tonnes of export cargo including 6,880 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday.

The total import cargo of 152,493 tonnes comprised of 52,103 tonnes of containerised cargo; 47,583 tonnes of coal and 36,664 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargo of 43,602 tonnes comprised of 36,784 tonnes of containerised cargo; 661 tonnes of sugar; 2,157 tonnes of wheat and 3,400 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 6,880 containers comprising of 3,446 containers import and 3,434 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 1,243 of 20’s and 989 of 40’s loaded while 77 of 20’s and 74 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,055 of 20’s and 299 of 40’s loaded containers while 303 of 20’s and 739 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were five ships namely CMA CGM Narmada, X-Press Makalu, MT Lahore, YM Mirinda and Noble Coral carrying containers, oil tanker, chemical and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were seven vessels viz. MS Tiger, Navios Verano, Ningbo Express, Ariane Makara, Pacific Horizon-1, Noble Coral and Copenhagen carrying containers, oil tankers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 144,942 tonnes comprising 97,165 tonnes of import cargo and 47,777 tonnes of export cargo including 4,786 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

The total import cargo of 97,165 tonnes includes 11,900 tonnes of LNG; 13,330 tonnes of palm oil; 19,670 tonnes of coal; 681 tonnes of soyabean seed; 2,025 tonnes of general cargo and 49,559 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 47,777 tonnes includes 6,395 tonnes of rice and 41,382 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 4,786 containers comprising of 2,608 containers import and 2,178 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

There were two ships namely CV MSC Saturn and MV Ocean Phoenix carrying containers and coal respectively sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning, while three ships namely CV MSC Silvana, CV X-Press Makalu and MV Pacific Victory carrying containers and coal respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of ten vessels viz. CV MSC Saturn, CV MSC Silvana, CV Express Makalu, MV Genava, MV Dazi Yun, MV Sakizaya Wisdom, MV Ocean Phoenix, Pacific Victory, Express and MT Corona were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, soyabean seeds, general cargo, rice, coal and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.

As many as fifteen ships namely CV CMA CGM Narmada, CV CSAV Tyndall, CV Priority, MV Marine Dream, MV Tiger Pioneer, MV Christina-L, Caravas Liberty, MV Auro, MT Caspian Gas, MT Maria-III, MT Al-Dasma, MT Al-Soor-II, MT Meltemi, MT Red Eagle and Chemroad Journey carrying containers, steel coil, coal, LPG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were four vessels viz. CV CMA CGM Narmada, CV CSAV Tyndall, CV Maersk Kingston and MV Tiger Pioneer carrying containers and coal respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Iron Ore & Coal Berth respectively on Tuesday.

There were five ships namely CV Maersk Kingston, MV Sea Meray, MV Cavasnos, MV Marine Dream and MV Zi Jing Song carrying containers, rice, coal, steel coil and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Tuesday.

There is one ship namely MV Othoni carrying chemical due to arrive on Wednesday, while another ship namely CV Priority carrying containers is due to arrive on Thursday.
