ISLAMABAD: Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif will arrive here on a three-day official visit on Sunday for holding talks with Pakistani leadership on issues of mutual interest, including the regional situation. During his stay from March 11 to 13, Foreign Minister Zarif will hold meeting with Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, President Mamnoon Hussain, Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal and Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa.

The visiting Iranian foreign minister would also hold bilateral talks with Foreign Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif on various issues of mutual interests, regional situation with emphasis on Afghanistan and exploring the ways and means to further expand the cooperation in various areas.

The sources said that the Iranian foreign minister would also be accompanied by a high-level business delegation. During the talks with Pakistani leadership, they said that the two sides would also discuss the possibilities of cooperation in connectivity projects under China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

The Iranian foreign minister is also scheduled to give a lecture on “70 Years of Pakistan-Iran Relations and Future Prospects” on March 12 at the Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad (ISSI).
