PML-F, PSP join hands to remove Khawaja Izhar

KARACHI: Political parties in Sindh Assembly (SA) are mulling to remove Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan’s (MQM-P) Khawaja Izharul Hassan as Opposition Leader.

Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) and Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) have joined hands to consider a new Opposition Leader in the Sindh Assembly.

According to a private television channel report, both PML-F and PSP can attain 30 votes to remove Khawaja Izhar from the position by converging with Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and National Peoples Party (NPP).

It was told that certain estranged members of MQM-P will also support the move.

There are 37 MPAs of MQM-P in Sindh Assembly out of which some have joined Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP). Other MPAs are divided between Bahadurabad and PIB Colony factions. It is expected that 25 MPAs of MQM-P will vote in favour of removing Khawaja Izhar as Opposition Leader if the issue is raised. The appointment of new Opposition Leader may help both government and opposition in forming caretaker set-up, sources added.—NNI
