LAHORE: The Punjab governor Mohammad Rafique Rajwana gave away civil awards to as many as 27 personalities on behalf of the President of Pakistan for their outstanding performance in different fields, on the occasion of the 78th Pakistan Day, here on Friday.

Sitara-e-Imtiaz was given to six, Pride of Performance to 15, Tamgha-e-Imtiaz to five personalities and Hilal-e-Imtiaz to one. Chief Secretary Punjab, Captain Zahid Saeed (retd) read the citation of those who received awards in the ceremony. Provincial ministers, senior civil and military officers as well as family members of the recipients attended the function.

Former Justice Khalilur Rehman was conferred with Hilal-e-Imtiaz.

Those who were awarded Sitara-e-Imtiaz include: Misbahul Haq, Mohsin Baig, Senator Ayesha Raza Farooq, Brig. Zakaullah Bhangoo, Brig Mukhtar Ahmed (retd) and Lt-Col Abdul Jabbar Bhatti (retd).

Pride of Performance was received by Dr Sarmad Saeed, Bilquees Khanum, A. Nayyer, Master Ghulam Haider, Zareen Suleman, Amanullah, Prof. Qudsia Azmat Nisar, Asghar Ali, Ahmed Khan, Nighat Butt, Nighat Chaudhry, Nighat Iqbal, Dr Saeed Akhter Jaffery, Mrs. Riffat Rehana and Prof. Shahida for their outstanding services in their respective fields.

Dr Ghulam Hussain Zahid, Tariq Mehmood Malik, Bilqees Sarwar, Dr Saeed Shafqat and Prof. Dr Zafar Ali Chaudhry were conferred with Tamgha-e-Imtiaz.

The Punjab governor said on the occasion that Pakistani nation was celebrating a day of national importance with full dedication and devotion. He said we should pledge for the promotion of national reconciliation on the occasion of Pakistan Day.
