LAHORE: A full-scale simulated emergency exercise was conducted by Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) at Allama Iqbal International Airport Lahore on Wednesday.

The CAA fire and medical departments played an important role in the exercise. To make the said exercise close to the reality, the Civil Aviation Authority arranged to extinguish a large-scale fire with the help of contemporary CAA Fire Crash Tenders at the airport. During the exercise, simulated injured were rescued promptly from the aircraft by the CAA and Rescue 1122 and fire fighters, and handed over to medical services for provision of necessary first aid. Seriously injured and mock causalities were transported to the nearest hospitals through ambulances for further medical aid and procedural disposal.

For this purpose, an army aviation helicopter was also utilized. Other departments - Pakistan Army, Pakistan Air Force, City District Government Health Services, PIA, ambulances of various city government hospitals and Edhi Foundation also participated in the exercise. The proceedings of entire exercise were observed by airlines, GHAs and representatives of various governmental and non-governmental agencies.
