KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 205,548 tonnes of cargo comprising 120,673 tonnes of import cargo and 84,875 tonnes of export cargo including 9,473 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday.

The total import cargo of 120,673 tonnes comprised of 61,879 tonnes of containerised cargo; 24,894 tonnes of bulk cargo; 32,000 tonnes of coal and 1,900 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargo of 84,875 tonnes comprised of 68,407 tonnes of containerised cargo; 651 tonnes of bulk cargo; 8,517 tonnes of wheat and 7,300 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 9,473 containers comprising of 3,920 containers import and 5,553 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 1,368 of 20’s and 1,006 of 40’s loaded while 186 of 20’s and 177 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,990 of 20’s and 675 of 40’s loaded containers while 539 of 20’s and 837 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were eight ships namely YM Eminence, Long Beach Trader, Sima Genesis, Kota Karim, YM Miranda, Sea Fortune, Blue Sea and Industrial Dolphin carrying containers, chemical, steel and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were ten vessels viz. Hyundai Global, Kota Karim, Ever Diamond, Hansa Regensburg, Xin Hong Kong, Magda-P, Asavari, Jin Run, Sea Fortune and Calypso carrying containers, wheat, oil tanker and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 90,378 tonnes comprising 47,780 tonnes of import cargo and 42,598 tonnes of export cargo including 3,906 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The total import cargo of 47,780 tonnes includes 1,528 tonnes of LPG; 3,800 tonnes of palm oil; 5,000 tonnes of coal; 9,035 tonnes of soyabean seeds; 601 tonnes of general cargo and 27,816 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 42,598 tonnes includes 42,598 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 3,906 containers comprising of 1,664 containers import and 2,242 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

There was one ship namely CV MSC Al-Ghero carrying containers sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while four more ships namely CV Mehun, MV Da Dan Xia, MV Pacific Talent and MT Corona carrying containers, general cargo, coal and palm oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of nine vessels viz. CV MSC Al-Ghero, CV Mehun, MV Da Kang, MV Da Dan Xia, MV Pacific Talent, MV Azizi, MV Ruby Star, MT Tiamat Gas and MT Corona were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, general cargo, soyabean seeds, coal, LNG and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.

As many as fourteen ships namely MV Sakizaya Champion, MV Crimson Empress, MV Zhen Bang, MV Bar Bounty, MV Endeavour Strait, MV Ocean Prelate, MT Arctic Aurora, MT Khor Gas, MT White Purl, MT Maria-III, MT Jo Pinari, MT Glorious, MT UACC Ibn Al-Hajiham and MT Navig-8 Sky carrying soyabean, canola seeds, sand, coal, LNG, LPG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were five vessels viz. CV MSC Susanne, MV Bar Bounty, MV Endeavour Strait, MT Arctic Aurora and MT Navig-8 Sky carrying containers, sand, coal, LNG and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, Iron Ore & Coal Berth, Engro Energy Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Thursday.

There were six ships namely CV MSC Susanne, CV GSL Tianjin, CV Qingda Tower, CV Hugo Schulte, MT British Emerald and MT Clipper Helen carrying containers, LNG and LPG respectively due to arrive on Thursday.
