KARACHI: Sindh Governor Muhammad Zubair said that liaison between academia and industry is the most important factor that helps teachers and students keep themselves well-informed about development of industrial sector and use of new technology there. He expressed these views, speaking at the convocation of Mohammad Ali Jinnah University (MAJU) as chief guest at a hotel, here the other day. MAJU president Prof Dr Zubair Shaikh, members board of governors, Prof Dr Sohail Afzal, Aslam Sanjrani, Barrister Shahida Jamil and other prominent figures were also present.

The students who did BBA, BCS, MBA, MS and MCS during the year 2016-17 were conferred with degrees and gold medals on their outstanding performance.

The governor told them innovation is key to success these days and he was happy to see that in practice at MAJU that is named after founder of Pakistan. He said due attention was being paid to innovation there. He was happy to know that faculty members of the University focus on quality education and help students encouraging research activities, dedicatedly. He congratulated students over graduation and post-graduation degrees from such a prestigious university of Karachi. He urged students to excel in their respective fields in their practical life. Sindh governor also felicitated parents of the students for their support to their children to get higher education in a country where a common person find it difficult to get his children primary education for many reasons. He also appreciated efforts of Prof Dr Zubair Shaikh for making MAJU one of the fast emerging universities of the region.

At the outset of the Convocation, MAJU president welcomed him. He said they were working with a motto 'Live, Learn and Be Inspired.' He said MAJU graduates are future of the country as they were enriched and enlightened with the wealth of professional education which they had aimed.

He told students it was in their own interest to go forth with a mission to serve the nation to bring a good name for their institution. He said the century in which they graduated, is a century of business revolution and information technology. He said MAJU students and their families can take justifiable pride in graduation from one of the best universities of Pakistan.
