ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Monday announced that it has started training of polling officers and assistant presiding officers that will continue till May 12.

The training will be conducted in all four provinces, Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) and Islamabad Capital Territory. An overall 700,000 polling staff will be trained ahead of the general election.

According to the ECP, in the last phase of training, around 178,000 presiding and senior assistant presiding officers will be trained from June 25 to July 15, 2018.

The Election Commission started training of its polling staff from March 5 this year and 84 ladies trainers in the first phase have trained across the country. The Commission said 3,000 master trainers will impart training to polling officers and assistant presiding officers at division and district level. The training of returning officers and district returning officers is expected to begin from second week of May, the Commission added.
