KARACHI: Temperature surged to a new high of 47 degrees Celsius in Jacobabad during this season on Wednesday, as the Met Office forecast hot weather for the country in the next 24 hours.

The high-temperature struck districts also included Shaheed Benazirabad, Dadu, Sibbi, Moen-Jo-Daro and Khanpur sizzled with 4 degrees Celsius. The continuing spell of warm weather is expected to grip the metropolis with a maximum temperature of 37 degrees Celsius in the next 48 hours.

Humidity level is likely to touch 80 percent on April 26 and April 27. However, rain-thunderstorm is expected at a few places in Kashmir and its adjoining hilly areas in the next 24 hours. Mainly hot and dry weather is expected in the other most parts of the country over the period. “Continental air is prevailing over most parts of the country. A shallow westerly wave is likely to affect extreme northern parts of the country,” the Met said.
