Probe begins against PSO’s ex-MD, other officials

KARACHI: Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has initiated inquiry against former Managing Director of Pakistan State oil (PSO) Mian Muhammad Farid and other officials of the oil company for allegedly causing Rs 81.6 million loss to national exchequer.

An inquiry has also been launched against Muhammad Ijaz Haroon, former Managing Director (MD) Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) on the complaint that allegedly committed massive corruption, money laundering and accumulation of assets beyond known sources of income abroad, a statement of FIA announced here on Thursday.

The inquiries have been initiated on the recommendations of the Zonal Board meeting, held at FIA Zonal Office, Karachi.

The statement said that apart from former MD PSO, the inquiry has also been initiated against other officials included H.A. Zuberi, former Marketing Manager Aviation, JNW Ansari, former General Manager Special Business PSO, A R Mithani, Ex GM Finance PSO and Tauqeer Sultan Awan, Chairman and CEO Hajvairy Airline

FIA announced that the said people in collusion and connivance of each other have allegedly caused loss to the tune of Rs 81.6 million to government exchequer by executing faulty agreements against supply of aviation fuel and acted beyond terms of agreements, which resulted into default in payments of dues to PSO.
