ISLAMABAD: To celebrate the centenary of women’s suffrage in the United Kingdom, British High Commission arranged an outdoor screening of film ‘Suffragette.’

British High Commissioner and Foreign Secretary’s Special Envoy for Gender Equality Thomas Drew and Joanna Drew respectively invited the guests, especially women to watch the film.

To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the passage of a bill when women had finally won the right to vote, the British High Commission is sponsoring the screening of the movie ‘Suffragette’ to educate the public on this little-known history.

The film is about nearly 100 years since women won the right to vote, but there are still many inequalities women face in today’s world. Suffragists gave women a voice, and it is time to use it to continue their work.

Opposition Leader in the Senate Sherry Rehman, ANP’s leader Bushra Gohar, human rights activists and others attended the event. The guests were served with barbecue and beverages.
