ISLAMABAD: Swedish Ambassador Ingrid Johansson on Friday hosted a reception in connection with the upcoming National Day of Sweden, which falls on June 06.

The event was formally started with playing of national anthems of both Pakistan and Sweden. The members of the diplomatic community and civil society, government officials and media persons attended the event in a large number.

Federal Minister for Capital Administration and Development Division Tariq Fazal Chaudhry was the chief guest on the occasion while Leader of the Opposition in Senate Senator Sherry Rehman was among the prominent politicians who were also present.

Welcoming the guests on the occasion, Ambassador Ingrid Johansson spoke about valuable collaboration between Sweden and Pakistan. She said that the embassy in its capacity is doing well to strengthen this collaboration and cooperation between the two countries. “It is in collaboration with you and through you that our activities are realized and truly make sense,” she said. She also thanked her embassy staff for their contribution toward this collaboration.

A leading Swedish as well as world’s famous magician Charlie Caper amused and entertained the audience with his first ever live performance in Pakistan. “It is great to be here among you for my first ever live performance in Pakistan,” Caper said prior to his thrilling performance on the stage. Caper has performed in more than 40 countries in seven languages.

On the occasion, made-in-Sweden products, especially electronic equipment, queue management and customer care management products, were also put on display at various stalls. The artwork by renowned Pakistani-Swedish artist Obaid Syed was also put on the display on the occasion.
