CTD announces Rs2m to identify killers

KARACHI: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) of Sindh Police has released the CCTV footage of the incident of firing on a car of two Chinese nationals nearby the Zamzama Park Clifton on February 5, 2018 and announced to award Rs 2 million prize money to help police identify the accused, who can be seen in the footage.

Two suspects namely Saqib Ahmed and Rehan Hashim, who were nominated in the case on February 22, 2018, have already been arrested from Hyderabad on May 5, 2018, said a statement issued by DIGP CTD Saqib Ismail Memon on Monday.

The two Chinese nationals namely Chen Zhu and Ye Fan were returning to their offices at around 3 pm, when unidentified assailant attacked their car near Zamzama Park DHA. Chen Zhu, 46, was succumbed to bullet wound after being fatally shot in the head while Ye Fan survived the attack.

The investigation has revealed that deceased Chen Zhu was Managing Director of a private shipping company and the company has no link with the Pakistan China-Economic Corridor (CPEC), the statement said. It appeared in the investigation that the differences between Pakistani national partners of the company and Chen Zhu were the reason behind the killing of the Chinese national, it added.

The investigation into the case is underway and JIT as well as other sources will also be used for investigation, the statement added.—APP
