Sindh govt proposes Rs200.754bn

KARACHI: Sindh Government has proposed Rs200.754 billion allocations for school education sector in its budget for next financial year 2018-19, registering 23 percent growth compared to Rs163.42 billion in the current fiscal year.

A summary of school education sector allocations for the next fiscal showed that provincial government proposed allocations for development/non-development side for the upcoming financial year comes to Rs173.625 billion, compared to Rs151.892 billion in the current fiscal.

For development head, a total of Rs27.129 billion has been proposed in next financial year compared to Rs11.250 billion in the current fiscal.

In Annual Development Programme (ADP) for 2018-19, the allocations proposed for school education sector would be spent on 273 schemes. Eighty new development schemes will be initiated of various sub-sectors of school education whereas approximately 174 will be completed upto June, 2019.

The summary shows that out of Rs27.129 billion for development projects, Rs15.837 billion has been proposed for elementary education in the province for the next budget compared to Rs14.928 billion in the current fiscal.

For secondary education, a total of Rs7.650 billion has been proposed in next financial year’s budget compared to Rs6.621 billion in the current fiscal.

Teacher education head would receive Rs343.526 million as per the proposed allocation in next budget compared to Rs227.526 million.

A total of Rs2.144 billion has been proposed for Sindh Education Foundation for next fiscal compared to Rs584.225 million in present financial year.

For miscellaneous head, an allocation of Rs1.154 has been proposed for next budget, registering no growth compared to current fiscal.
