KARACHI: The Employers Federation of Pakistan (EFP) proudly announced the formation of first-ever EFP Institute of Occupational Health and Safety as a centre of excellence.

The centre would provide a platform of learning, knowledge and experience through accredited training programmes for business enterprises, OSH professionals, safety practitioners, policymakers, and leaders of OSH programmes.

This was announced by Majyd Aziz, President Employers Federation of Pakistan, at the EFP Annual OSH Event and OSH Best Practices Awards Ceremony.

Majyd Aziz further informed that a one-year, well structured programme leading to a Post-Graduate Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety will commence from July 2018 with the collaboration of Preston University. The faculty will consist of Pakistan’s top OSH professionals who are internationally recognized. The institute will also hold training programmes, workshops, and study tours for those who want to enter the field of OSH.

Majyd Aziz added that the institute will provide services in research, training, publications, advisory, health surveillance, environmental monitoring, ISO Certification (ISO 18000, ISO 4500), health surveillance of workers, and annual health and safety conference.

Dr Asad Jamal, a leading consultant of OSH has been appointed coordinator of EFP-IOHS.—PR
