RECORDER REPORT

LAHORE: An accountability court on Friday extended for another seven days physical remand of former director general Lahore Development Authority Ahad Khan Cheema and another accused involved in Ashiana-i-Iqbal Housing Scheme scam.

National Accountability Bureau (NAB) officials produced Cheema, Shahid Shafiq, Bilal Qidwai and Imtiaz Haider before the court and sought their further remand for further interrogation.

The court allowed the request to the extent of Cheema and Shahid Shafiq and extending their remand till May 18 sent the remaining two accused to jail on judicial remand.

Cheema was arrested by the NAB on February 21 last on charges of awarding contract of the Ashiana-i-Iqbal housing scheme in violation of procurement rules and received illegal gratification in the form of 32 kanals of land.
