Balochistan budget postponed

The postponement of Balochistan Budget for fiscal year 2018-19 by its provincial assembly has contributed to concerns about the state of governance in the country’s largest province in terms of area; it will be announced on May 14. This province, which is endowed with precious metals, has been facing a serious issue of law and order for quite some time. Although the army and FC have been able restore peace, however relative, across the province, the political leadership has done little or nothing to lead from the front. There are a variety of factors behind Balochistan government’s overt complacency in this regard. It is therefore quite interesting to note that the Balochistan government has postponed its scheduled budget session. Although, the home minister Sarfraz Bugti said that the presentation of budget has been postponed in order to avoid mistakes in the budgetary proposals, opposition lawmaker Rahim Ziaratwal has claimed that the real reasons behind deferment are the incompetence of government and bickering among coalition partners.
