ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Energy met under the chairmanship of Rana Afzaal Hussain at the Parliament House Tuesday.

The committee discussing the implementation status of its previous recommendations directed the gas distribution companies to complete gas development schemes under Prime Minister’s program within the stipulated timelines.

The committee also directed gas companies to initiate work on the development schemes for which funds have been released. The committee expressed satisfaction over the pace of work on the schemes being carried out under the SDGs Program.

The committee also discussed the termination of services of contractual sub-engineers by gas distribution companies and issue of point to point pay fixation of sacked employees later reinstated under Sacked Employees Reinstatement Act, 2010, and directed Petroleum Division to hold inquiry and submit its findings within three days.

The committee also directed Pakistan State Oil (PSO) management to reassess the reopening of PSO depot in Kohat. The committee was apprised that the depot was closed down in 2008 after attack by terrorists.

The committee disposed of the complaints of Siraj Muhammad Khan and Dr Shazra Mansab Ali Khan on the assurance of the managing director SNGPL for redressal of their complaints regarding delay and mismanagement on gas development schemes in their respective constituencies.
