LAHORE: The faithful thronged to mosques, as the first Friday of the holy month of Ramazan was observed with religious fervour, here today.

The main Juma congregations were held at Badshahi Mosque, Data Darbar, Masjid Ibrahim, Bagh-e-Jinnah, Masjide Shuhda, Neela Gumbad mosque and hundreds of other mosques in the provincial metropolis. Due to extra rush of namazis, the mosque administration had to make additional arrangements.

Ulema and Mashaikh in their sermons highlighted the importance of the holy month of Ramadan. They asked the Muslim to follow Islamic teachings. Ramazan is the Muslim month of fasting, during which Muslims refrain from eating, drinking, smoking from sunrise to sunset.
